First Blooms from First Bloom Farm

A night of "first blooms" and floral design with Maggie Saska from First Bloom Farm. We love Maggie's stuff because she always has something new and different - exciting for real flower geeks like me! I was particularly enjoying the poppy pods, giant dill flower, and dainty little dangling grasses.

Clean & Classic Country Club Wedding

This bride did a great job selecting the perfect style and colors for her fresh and clean country club wedding in Litchfield, Connecticut. The choice of navy, green and crisp white were the perfect match for the golf-course backdrop on a summery June day. Green hydrangea, white peony, lady's mantle, and mock orange were a few of the flowers we used to achieve this soft but sophisticated classic look. The initials on the bar are boxwood and andromeda glue-gunned onto crisp white linen.

Her Majesty, the Tree Peony.

Could there possibly exist something more beautiful than the tree peony? It was a disappointment that the paper-thin petals of this 8 inch beauty lasted only one night in the vase before falling everywhere - but that is all we needed! Gorgeous. It's no wonder the tree only produces 5-6 flowers per year ... looks like it would take some energy.

The hostess for this private fundraising dinner wanted bright colors - oranges and reds - to match her formal dining room. She also donated the gorgeous gold accented vessels that fit the look perfectly. A much more formal look than my usual "natural" style but super fun to mix lilies, parrot tulips, roses and more to create this elegant, sophisticated look in a classic, formal dining room.
